Located on the Baiyun Mountain in Hedong area (east bank of Drake River) of Wuzhou, it is a place of Buddhist rites in Guangxi for those to be initiated into monkhood or nunhood, who have made their mind to renounce their earthly families, and the biggest temple in today’s South China. The name of the temple was written by Zhao Puchu (1907-2000), the former president of Chinese Buddhist Association. Si’en (four favors) refers to parents’ favor, people’s favor, nation’s favor and Sanbao (Buddhist Three Treasures)favor. The temple is not only a museum of Buddhist culture, but also a place of exquisite architecture carvings, which may be rated as a palace of architectural art. The whole ancient architecture complex is majestic, of which the Mahavira Hall is the main hall that the statue of Buddhist patriarch is enshrined, which is 16.8 meters high with three gilded ststues of Buddha carved of sandalwoods enshrined in it.
